Amine Harit and Morocco knocked out of World Cup at group stage

The dream of reaching the last 16 of the World Cup is no longer for Amine Harit. Thanks to the 1-0 loss against Portugal on Wednesday, Morocco have no chance of progressing to the knockout phase. The north Africans showed another good performance against the reigning European champions, which makes it all the more tough to take.

“I know the World Cup doesn’t come around often, but we’re proud of our performance,” said Morocco coach Hervé Renard, who didn’t bring on Amine Harit against Portugal. The Schalke man, who was voted as “Man of the Match” for the game against Iran, sat on the bench in Moscow and was not substituted on. Cristiano Ronaldo scored the game’s only goal in the fourth minute.

Morocco will play their final group game against Spain on Monday (25.06) Kick-off is at 20:00 CEST in Kaliningrad.
