Vitalie Becker enjoyed a successful debut for Germany U20s on Friday (5/9). Schalke’s academy product started for Hannes Wolf’s side and recorded an assist in a 5-1 win in Switzerland.
Maurice Krattenmacher (44’/Hertha BSC) and Kjell Wätjen (47’, 48’/VfL Bochum) put Germany 3-0 up inside a four-minute period at the Stadion Niedermatten in Wohlen.
Paris Brunner (AS Monaco) headed in a fourth goal after 50 minutes from a Vitalie Becker cross. Rafael Lubach (1. FC Nürnberg) got Germany’s fifth in the 67th minute. Souleymane Ndiaye (FC Lausanne-Sport) got a consolation for the hosts with two minutes left to play.
Friday’s game was Becker’s 14th in a Germany shirt. The Bottrop native had previously won eight caps for the U17s and five for the U19s.
He could win his second cap for the U20s on Tuesday (9/9), when Germany play Italy at 18:00 CEST in Reutlingen.
