Blendi Idrizi makes international debut for Kosovo

Blendi Idrizi represented Kosovo on the international stage for the first time on Tuesday (01/06). The 23-year-old midfielder played more than 80 minutes in the win over San Marino. For Matthew Hoppe, meanwhile, the wait goes on for his USA international debut.

Idrizi in starting eleven for debut

After receiving his first call-up to the Kosovo senior national team, Blendi Idirizi made his international debut on Tuesday (01/06). Idrizi started the game and played 82 minutes as his Kosovo side defeated San Marino 4-1 at home in Pristina. All four goals for Swiss head coach Bernard Challandes‘ team were scored by Vedat Muriqi (28′, 45+1′, 46′ 76′), who plays for Serie A side Lazio. Five minutes before the final whistle, David Tomassini scored a consolation goal for the visitors.

Hoppe not involved as USA lose

On Sunday (30/05) USA took on Switzerland in a friendly in St. Gallen, with Matthew Hoppe in the squad for the first time. However, the striker did not see any action in the game and had to watch his side fall to a 2-1 defeat. Sebastian Lletget gave the visitors a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute, before Ricardo Rodriguez (10′) and Steven Zuber (63′) turned the game around for the Swiss side.
