Burgstaller and Konoplyanka both get wins

Two Royal-Blues were in action on Monday night playing for their respective nations – both claimed wins. Guido Burgstaller came on during Austria’s victory over Macedonia whilst Yevhen Konoplyanka started in Ukraine’s victory over Luxembourg.

Three days after Austria beat Slovenia 1-0 in which Guido Burgstaller scored the only goal of the game, Austria were able to celebrate another important win in the race for EURO qualification. Thanks to their 4-1 victory over Macedonia, Austria are on six points in Group C, only one point behind second-placed Israel.

Schalke’s striker came on one minute before the final whistle as he replaced Marko Arnautovic upfront. Arnautovic had scored in the 62nd and 68th minute to make the scores 2-1 then 3-1. Valentino Lazaro also scored for Austria whilst the fourth goal was an own goal by Egzon Beijtulai. Macedonia took the lead in the twelfth minute.

Konoplyanka and Ukraine top of the table

Ukraine claimed their third victory of the campaign as they topped Group B going into the summer break. They defeated Luxembourg 1-0 and now have ten points on the board. Yevhen Konoplyanka started the game and played 80 minutes. The only goal of the game came after six minutes thanks to Roman Yaremchuk.
