Decisive Euro 2020 qualifiers with Royal Blue involvement

Seven Schalke players are away with their national teams in the last international break of 2019. Three of these are fighting for qualification for next summer’s European Championships.

Suat Serdar has been picked to represent Germany for the second international break in a row. Joachim Löw’s team take on Belarus in the Borussia-Park in Mönchengladbach on Saturday (16/11), Germany then face Northern Ireland in Frankfurt three days later. Ahead of these final Euro qualifiers, Germany sit in second in Group C on 15 points. Group Leaders the Netherlands also have 15 points in the bank; Northern Ireland, meanwhile, are close behind on 12 points. The top two teams will qualify for Euro 2020.

Two crucial matches for Rabbi Matondo

Two crucial matches are in store for Rabbi Matondo and Wales. The “Dragons” travel to Baku to take on Azerbaijan (16/11), before returning to Cardiff for a final duel with Hungary. Nothing less than two wins will do for Matondo and Co. The Welsh are currently languishing in fourth place in group E, having only taken eight points so far. Group leaders Croatia (14 points) and Hungary (12) have both played one game more than Slovakia (10), Wales and Azerbaijan (1).

Kabak almost qualified for Euro 2020

Turkey and Ozan Kabak have one foot in the door to qualify. Just one point against Iceland on Thursday (14/11) would mean that Senol Günes‘ side make it to Euro 2020. Should Turkey lose against Iceland in Istanbul, then a win against Andorra three days later would be enough see them through.

McKennie and the USA need two wins

It is getting serious for McKennie and the USA. The USMNT take on northern neighbours Canada in Orlando (16/11) in the CONCACAF Nations League. Four days later, Mckennie’s boys travel to the Cayman Islands for their away match against Cuba (0). The USA (3) are in second place in the group of three teams and need to win both games in order to overtake Canada (9).

Schubert, Kutucu and Mercan picked for youth teams

Markus Schubert (Germany) and Ahmed Kutucu (Turkey) have both been called up to the U21 squads of their respective national teams ahead of qualifiers for Euro 2021. Schubert and the Germany U21s take on Belgium in Freiburg on Sunday (17/11). Kutucu and Turkey are away in Andorra. In addition, Levent Mercan and the Germany U20s meet Portugal in Aveiro.
