Draws for Mendyl and Boujellab, Sané’s game called off at short notice

Four days after their 3-1 victory over Senegal, Morocco followed up with a 1-1 draw against the Democratic Republic of Congo. Hamza Mendyl was named in the starting XI and completed the full 90 minutes, with teammate Nassim Boujellab, who celebrated his full international but last time out, was introduced in the 82nd minute for Sofyan Amrabat.

In the game in Rabat, Ajax’s Noussair Mazraoui gave Morocco the lead shortly before half time, with Yoane Wissa of FC Lorient equalising on the hour mark.

Salif Sané and the Senegal national team’s match against Mauritania was called off just a few hours ahead of kick-off after several members of the Mauritania squad tested positive for Covid-19.
