Eight Schalke players called up for international duty

Eight FC Schalke 04 players have been called up to represent their countries for the final international break of the season. Florian Flick has been selected for Germany U21s for the first time, while Martin Fraisl is also hoping for a debut, in his case with the Austria national team.

Flick and Thiaw with Germany U21s

Florian Flick has been called up for Germany U21s for the first time. Along with S04 teammate Malick Thiaw, he will be looking to feature in their final two European Championship qualifiers. Antonio Di Salvo’s side will host Hungary in Osnabrück on 3rd June, before travelling to Lodz to play Poland four days later. Germany require just a point to book their place in next summer’s tournament in Romania and Georgia (9th-23rd June).

A number of Nations League games – Kaminski up first

Four matchdays of the UEFA Nations League are due to be played in Europe in June. Marcin Kaminski, who earned a recall to Poland’s squad at the end of March, is now hoping for his first appearance for his country in three years. They will begin against Wales (1/6), playing Belgium (8/6), the Netherlands (11/6) and Belgium again (14/6) during this period.

Blendi Idrizi is also away with his nation, Kosovo, for four Nations League games. Their first fixture is against Cyprus (2/6). That is followed by matches versus Greece (5/6), Northern Ireland (9/6) and Greece again (12/6).

Marius Lode has been chosen to play for Norway, another side in Nations League action. Stale Solbakken’s team will play Serbia (2/6), Sweden (5/6), Slovenia (9/6) and Sweden again (12/6).

Rangnick calls up Fraisl

Martin Fraisl has been included in new Austria coach Ralf Rangnick’s squad. The 29-year-old goalkeeper will be hoping to make his debut for his country. Their Nations League games are against Croatia (3/6), Denmark (6/6), France (10/6) and Denmark again (13/6).

Darko Churlinov and North Macedonia will take on Bulgaria (2/6), Gibraltar (5/6), Georgia (9/6) and Gibraltar for a second time over the coming few weeks (12/6).

Itakura against Brazil

Ko Itakura and Japan will take part in both the Kirin Challenge Cup 2022 and the Kirin Cup 2022 during June, both hosted in Japan. They will play Paraguay (2/6), Brazil (6/6), Ghana (10/6) and either Chile or Tunisia (14/6).
