Embolo scores but the Swiss lose a 3-0 lead

Switzerland had almost assured a win for themselvesin the European Qualifier against Denmark having scoring some brilliant goals. Remu Freuler got his team in front (19’), and the lead was then doubled by Granit Xhaka(66’) with a shot from distance. S04-striker, Breel Embolo, then acrobatically smahed in a shot from a corner to score Switzerland’s third (76’). No one would have assumed at this point that the Swiss team would not go on to take all three points, but it seemed it wasn’t meant to be for Switzerland on the night. Mathias Jörgensen managed to get one back after a fine header (84’), the deficit was then reduced again by Christian Gytkjaer just four minutes later to make it 3-2. After three minutes of added time, Henrik Dalsgaard converted a final chance to give the game its 3-3 score line and shock Switzerland.

After two matchdays, Switzerland now sit with four points in Group D, putting them in second behind leaders Ireland (six). Denmark, who were playing their first qualifier, sit in third with one point.

Last-minute win for substitute Sané

Salif Sané celebrated a last-minute win in Senegal’s friendly with Mali yesterday. The Schalke defender watched on from the bench as the guests took the lead through Adama Traoré (72’). Four minutes later he was substituted into the game. With Sané in the team, Liverpool striker, Sadio Mané, scored a late goal (87’) that looked to set the game up for the draw. Moussa Konaté then scored (90+3) a last-minute winner to give Senegal the win.
