Schalke’s midfielder was brought on as a substitute in the 68th minute, while defender Thiaw played the first half.

Youssoufa Moukoko scored both of the goals for Antonio Di Salvo’s team in the 25th and 85th minutes, either side of Bartosz Bialek’s 35th-minute strike for the home side.

Germany had already secured qualification for the U21 EUROS in Romania and Georgia four days earlier thanks to a 4-0 win against Hungary. Meanwhile, Poland’s loss to Germany saw them drop out of second place and miss out on qualification for the finals.
