Georgia stun Portugal 2-0 in Gelsenkirchen to reach Round of 16

Georgia beat Portugal 2-0 in the third group stage game at the Arena AufSchalke during UEFA EURO 2024. The win saw them secure their place in the Round of 16. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (2’) and Georges Mikautadze from the penalty spot (57’) scored the goals for Willy Sagnol’s side.

Georgia will now face Spain in Cologne on Sunday (30th June) at 21:00 CEST. Portugal, who had already made sure of top spot in Group F prior to the clash, will next take on Slovenia in Frankfurt on Monday (1st July) at 21:00 CEST.

The results on Wednesday evening also confirmed which Round of 16 game will be played in Gelsenkirchen. England will face Slovakia on Sunday (30th June) at 18:00 CEST. The match will be the fourth and final UEFA EURO 2024 game in Gelsenkirchen.
