Gold Cup: McKennie’s team progress into the quarter-finals undefeated

Weston McKennie did not feature in the USA’s last group game of this year’s Gold Cup. The Royal Blue midfielder watched on from the bench as his team, who had already qualified for the quarter-finals after two wins, celebrated a 1-0 win against Panama.

The game’s only goal was a sensational one, with Jozy Altidore’s overhead kick in the 66th minute proving the difference between the two sides. The USA progress to the quarter finals with 11 goals scored and zero conceded, on top of their group with nine points. Curacao are their next opponents on Sunday.
