Heavy friendly defeat for USA

USA lost their final friendly game ahead of the Gold Cup. Gregg Berhalter’s team were defeated 3-0 by Venezuela on Sunday (09/09) in Cincinnati, Ohio. Weston McKennie played 62 minutes for the hosts.

Venezuela’s goals came from Salomon Rondon (16’, 36’) and Jefferson Savarino (30’). For the USMNT it was the second defeat in preparation for their Gold Cup Campaign, after losing 1-0 to Jamaica.

The CONCACAF tournament will take place from 16th June until 8th July (CEST) in USA, Costa Rica and Jamaica.

USA, who will want to defend their title from two years ago, will face Guyana (19/06, 4:00 CEST), Trinidad & Tobago (23/06, 2:00 CEST) and Panama (27/06, 3:00 CEST) in Group D.

The two highest place teams from each group of four will qualify for the quarter finals, with the final being played on 8th July at 3:15 CEST at the Soldier Field in Chicago.
