Malick Thiaw gets goal and assist in Germany U21 win
Malick Thiaw had three reasons to celebrate on Tuesday evening with the Germany U21 national team. Thiaw recorded his second win in as many caps for the U21 side, in addition to providing a goal and assist in his side’s 3-1 win over Latvia.
In the 48th minute, Thiaw was in the right place at the right time to head home Hoffenheim’s Angelo Stiller’s corner from close range at the back post, increasing the lead to 3-1. In the first half, Thiaw assisted Youssoufa Moukoko for Germany’s equaliser in the 25th minute after Ilya Korotkovs gave Latvia the lead in the 8th minute. Germany’s second goal came through Stiller in the 41st minute.
Schalke’s number 33 completed 74 minutes before being replaced by Bochum’s Armel Bella Kotchap. With two wins from two games, defending European champions Germany sit atop of qualification group B with six points.
