Marko Pjaca books his place in the last 16

The first Royal Blue has secured his place in the knockout phase of the World Cup. After a 3-0 win over Argentina on Thursday (21.06.), Marko Pjaca and Croatia are safely through their group whatever happens in their final game.

Pjaca, who returns to Juventus after his loan spell ends on 1st July, made no appearance against Argentina yet came on during Croatia’s 2-0 win over Nigeria last Saturday. However, a certain former Schalke player was a forced to be reckoned with on the pitch. Ivan Rakitic, who spent four years with the Royal Blues between 2007 and 2011, gave an outstanding performance and scored the game’s final goal in injury time. Frankfurt’s Ante Rebic (53’) and Real Madrid’s Luka Modric (80’) netted the first two.

Croatia face Iceland in their final group game on Tuesday (26.06.) at 20:00 CEST.
