Marko Pjaca subbed on in Croatia win

Marko Pjaca and Croatia made a successful start to their World Cup campaign on Saturday. Zlatko Dalic’s side took a deserved lead against Nigeria and never really came under too much threat as they cruised to a 2-0 win. Pjaca was subbed on in the 86th minute.

Oghenekaro Etebo scored an unfortunate own goal to give the Croatians the lead in the 33rd minute, before Luka Modric doubled it in the 71st from the penalty spot. The win takes Croatia into first place in Group D after matchday 1. The other game between Iceland and Argentina ended 1-1. Pjaca and Co. can already secure their spot in the knockouts on Thursday against Argentina. Kick-off is at 20:00 CEST in Nizhny Novgorod.
