Matthew Hoppe called up to senior U.S. men’s national team for the first time

Matthew Hoppe has received his first call-up to the senior U.S. men’s national team. The striker, who has scored six goals for the Royal Blues this season, could make his debut for the side in an upcoming friendly against Switzerland.

The friendly will take place in St. Gallen on Sunday, 30th May (20:15 CEST). The U.S. will also contest CONCACAF Nations League matches next month, with head coach Gregg Berhalter set to announce his squad for these games early next week. The USA will face Honduras in the semi-finals on 4th June (1:30 CEST). The other semi-final will pit Mexico and Costa Rica against each other, with the final set to be played on 7th June (3:00 CEST). The match to determine third place will kick off at 00:30 CEST on the same day.

Schöpf in Austria’s provisional squad

Alessandro Schöpf has also been named in Austria’s provisional 30-man squad by head coach Franco Foda ahead of this summer’s EUROs. The final squad will be announced on 1st June. Austria will face North Macedonia (13/6), the Netherlands (17/6) and Ukraine (21/6) in the group stages of the tournament. They will face England (2/6) and Slovakia (6/6) in friendlies as part of their pre-EURO preparations.
