Matthew Hoppe makes international debut for USA

S04 attacker Matthew Hoppe made his debut in the early hours of Friday (16/07, Middle European time zone) for the US Men’s National Team. The 20-year-old played 58 minutes in his side’s 6-1 win over Martinique and provided the assist Daryl Dike’s goal in the 14th minute.

Dike scored his second of the game in the 59th minute, with other goals coming through a Samuel Camille own goal (23’), Miles Robinson (50’), Gyasi Zardes (70’) and Nicholas Gioacchini (90’). Martinique’s goal came from the penalty spot through Emamanuel Riviere (64’).

With the clear victory, Gregg Berhalter’s team have secured qualification for the quarterfinals ahead of their final match of the group stage against the also already-qualified Canada (18/07, 23 CEST). Both sides are sitting on 6 points after two games.
