The striker looked dangerous right from the start against a Jamaican side featuring Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey. In the 83rd minute, Hoppe headed home a cross from Cristian Roldan to put the U.S. on course for victory. A few minutes later, Schalke’s No. 43 was subbed off to a round of applause from the 43,318 fans in attendance in Arlington, Texas. Head coach Gregg Berhalter also praised the striker for his performance after the game.

The U.S. will now face upcoming World Cup hosts Qatar in the semi-finals in the early morning on Friday (30/7). Defending champions Mexico will take on Canada in the other semi-final.
