Matthew Hoppe and USMNT win their Gold Cup group

A 1-0 win over Canada saw the USMNT and Matthew Hoppe top Group B in the Gold Cup on Sunday (18/7). Schalke’s striker came on for his second cap in the 75th minute, replacing Gyasi Zardes.

Shaq Moore scored the only goal of the game in Kansas City in front of 18,467 fans. His goal came after just 20 seconds – the fastest in the history of the Gold Cup.

Having picked up nine points from nine in their group, the US will now meet either Jamaica or Costa Rica in the quarterfinals on Sunday in Arlington (25/7).
