Nations League, AFCON qualifiers, Friendlies

The final round of games are to be played in the UEFA Nations League. Some of the S04 players will be chasing promotion and some will be fighting to avoid relegation. There are also some important games in the qualifiers for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. Other players who have been called up will be playing in international friendlies.

Guido Burgstaller

Rudy and Germany to play in Schalke

Germany will play a friendly on Thursday (15/11/18) in Leipzig against Russia and then will play against the Netherlands in the Veltins-Arena in their final UEFA Nations League tie. The midfielder hopes to play in the UEFA Nations League game that will be played in the Veltins Arena. However, it is necessary that the Netherlands do not beat France in order for Germany not to get relegated. If the Netherlands do not win, the game at the Veltins Arena will be crucial for Germany’s survival in their group.

The Germany head coach Joachim Löw had called up both Sebastian Rudy and Mark Uth. However, the striker has had to pull out due to having picked up a muscle problem in the game against Frankfurt.

Burgstaller and Schöpf still have a chance

The Austria national team, which includes Guido Burgstaller and Alessandro Schöpf, have two more games in the UEFA Nations League in Group B3. Prior to their last two games, Austria are on three points but are still able to win their group. They will play current top of the table team Bosnia and Herzegovina (15.11.18) and must win more than 1-0, and then beat Northern Ireland three days later in order to win the group.

Konoplyanka wants fourth win in as many games

Yevhen Konoplyanka and Ukraine have already won Group B1 in the UEFA Nations League before this international break as the Eastern Europeans take on Slovakia (16/11/18). If they win, they will have picked up maximum points. The UEFA Nations League game will be followed by a friendly against Turkey (20/11/18).

Amine Harit

Top of the table clash for Harit

Morocco and Amine Harit will play in a top of the table clash in an AFCON qualifier against Cameroon, who are one point ahead of Morocco, on Friday (16/11/18). They will then face Tunisia in a friendly (20/11/18). Hamza Mendyl will not be featuring in either game as he is currently out injured with an ankle problem.

Senegal and Sané qualified already

Salif Sané and Senegal have already booked their place for the AFCON. After four out of six games, Senegal cannot be overtaken. Nevertheless, the West Africans will be fully motivated for their game against Equatorial Guinea on Saturday (17/11/18).

McKennie to play against England and Italy

The USA team will play in two friendlies. On Thursday (15/11/18) Weston McKennie’s team will play against England and five days later against Italy.

Alexander Nübel

Interesting games for Nübel and Serdar

Having qualified for the 2019 U21 European Championships in Italy, the Germany U21s have two friendlies awaiting them this international break. Stefan Kuntz’s team will play against the Netherlands on Friday (16/11/18) and against Italy on Monday (19/11/18). Cedric Teuchert was not selected due to injury.
