Nations League for Embolo, trio look to qualify for Euros

Four Schalke players have been called up for international duty. Breel Embolo will be in Nations League action, with Guido Burgstaller, Yevhen Konoplyanka, and Rabbi Matondo looking to qualify for the European Championship.

Embolo looking for Nations League glory

Breel Embolo and the Swiss national side are preparing for their upcoming Nations League games with two training camps. Switzerland face Portugal in Porto in the semi-final on 5th June. Kick-off is at 20:45 CEST.

The Netherlands play England on the following day in the second semi-final. The third-place play-off takes place on 9th June at 15:00 CEST, with the final at 20:45 on the same day.

Burgstaller under pressure with Austria

Guido Burgstaller has two games coming up with the Austrian national side. They face Slovenia on 7th June in Klagenfurt (20:45 CEST), before playing North Macedonia in Skopje on 10th June (20:45 CEST).

Austria are under a bit of pressure following defeats to Poland (1-0) and Israel (4-2). First and second in Group G will qualify for EURO 2020.

Konoplyanka called up for Ukraine

Yevhen Konoplyanka will also be in Euros qualifying action with Ukraine. The side play Serbia on 7th June (20:45 CEST) before a game against Luxemburg three days later (20:45 CEST). Ukraine are currently leading Group B, with four points from two games.

Matondo in provisional Wales squad

Rabbi Matondo is in Wales’ preliminary squad for their upcoming Euros qualifying games. The final squad will be announced on Wednesday (29th May).

Wales’ first game is in Croatia on 8th June (15:00 CEST). The side then have a game against Hungary on 11th June (20:45 CEST).

Wales are second in Group E and have the same amount of points as Slovakia, Croatia, and Hungary, with three. However, Wales have only played one game so far.
