Opening win for Matthew Hoppe in Gold Cup

The US national team enjoyed a successful start to their latest Gold Cup campaign as Schalke forward Matthew Hoppe and Co. took a 1-0 win against Haiti. The only goal of the day was scored by Sam Vines of the Colorado Rapids in the eighth minute.

Hoppe was an unused substitute in Kansas City and continues to wait for his senior national team debut. The US boys’ second group game is this Friday against Martinique, before their final Group B clash the following Sunday against Canada.
