Salif Sané celebrates comeback with quarter-final win
Salif Sané has two reasons to celebrate on Wednesday (10/07), as the centre-back reached the semi-final of the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal thanks to a 1-0 victory over Benin, keeping the dream of lifting the trophy alive. The 28 year old also made his return from injury.
Sané was introduced into the game 60 seconds before full-time in Cairo for Idrissa Gueye, who had scored the only goal of the game in the 70th minute. It was the defender’s second appearance of the tournament, after picking up an ankle injury just over 15 minutes into in the opening game against Tanzania.
On Sunday (14/07), Sané and Senegal will face the winner of Madagascar and Tunisia in the semi final.
