Six Royal Blues away on international duty

As the final international break of the year gets underway, six Royal Blues will be away with their national sides. Blendi Idrizi and Darko Churlinov have both been called up, although only the latter still has hopes of qualifying for next year’s World Cup. Meanwhile, Ko Itakura will also play two important qualifiers with Japan. Malick Thiaw (U21) and Mehmet Can Aydin (U20) have both been called up by Germany’s youth sides, while Yaroslav Mikhailov will feature for the Russia U19s.

Ko Itakura

Darko Churlinov and North Macedonia are currently in third place in Group J with 12 points from eight games. They are just one point behind Romania, with two games left to play. Churlinov will come up against Armenia on Thursday (11/11) before hosting Iceland in Skopje three days later (Sunday, 14/11).

Blendi Idrizi and Kosovo have already been eliminated from contention for next year’s tournament, but will face Greece in their final qualifier on Sunday (14/11). They will face Jordan in a friendly four days earlier (10/11).

Two important away games for Itakura

Ko Itakura will come up against Vietnam on Thursday (11/11), before facing Oman on Tuesday (16/11). The ‘Samurai Blue’ are currently in fourth place in their group, having played four of 10 games so far. The top two teams will qualify automatically, with the third-placed side contesting a play-off. Japan are currently three points behind second place.

Malick Thiaw

Thiaw and Aydin called up for Germany U21s and U20s

Malick Thiaw and the Germany U21s will be looking to continue their successful start to U21 EUROs qualification. Head coach Antonio di Salvo’s side are currently top of Group B, having taken the maximum 12 points from their four games so far. They will now face Poland U21s on Friday (12/11) and San Marino U21s on Tuesday (16/11).

Meanwhile, Mehmet Can Aydin has been called up by the Germany U20s for their upcoming two games. They will travel to face France U20s on Thursday (11/11) before heading to face the Portugal U20s on Monday (15/11).

Mikhailov to face Germany U19s

Yaroslav Mikhailov has been called up by the Russia U19s for their three games in Greece as part of qualifying for the U19 European championship. The will open this international break against Greece U19s on Wednesday (10/11), before facing Germany U19s on Saturday (13/11). They will end with a match against the Faroe Islands U19s on Tuesday (16/11).
