Spain beat Italy 1-0 to win the group at the Arena AufSchalke

Spain got the better of Italy on Thursday night at the Arena AufSchalke (20/6). An own goal by Italy’s Riccardo Calafiori decided the game in the 55th minute. It was the second UEFA EURO 2024 game to be played in Gelsenkirchen following England’s 1-0 victory over Serbia last Sunday (16/6).

With two wins from two games, Spain have already secured top spot in Group B. Italy are second on three points, ahead of both Albania and Croatia with a point apiece.

There are two more games to be played at the Arena AufSchalke: Georgia and Portugal will face off on 26th June (21:00 CEST) and then the final game is a knockout match on 30th June (18:00 CEST). The winner of Group C will play the third-placed team from either Group D, E or F for a place in the quarter-finals.
