Successful start to EURO Qualifiers for Schubert and the Germany U21s

Stefan Kuntz’s U21 side got their European championship qualifying campaign off to a perfect start, beating Wales 5-1 on Tuesday evening. Schalke’s Schubert played the full 90 minutes in goal while Nürnberg’s Robin Hack (hat-trick), Werder’s Johannes Eggestein and Hamburg’s Adrian Fein kept the goals flowing at the other end. Just after half time, Wales had made it 4-1 with a penalty.

This leaves the EURO 2019 runners up at second place in Group 9, behind Bosnia-Herzegovina, who have four points on the board after two games.

Miranda wins with Spain U21s

Germany’s Spanish counterparts have made it two wins in two in their qualifying campaign. S04 new boy Juan Miranda also played the full 90 minutes as the U21s beat Montenegro 2-0 thanks to a Dani Olmo brace in the opening ten minutes.

Nastasic unused sub in Serbia win

Serbia have kept their hopes of qualifying for EURO 2020 alive with a 3-1 win in Luxembourg on Tuesday. Aleksandar Mitrovic’s brace and a goal from Nemanja Radonjic leave Serbia at third place in Group B with seven points from five games. Group leaders Ukraine have 13 points after the same number of games, while Portugal are only one point ahead of the Serbs, albeit with a game in hand.

Friendly win for Morocco

The Morocco XI, this time without Amine Harit, who watched on from the bench, beat Niger 1-0 thanks to a goal from Walid El Karti in the 21st minute.
