U21 European Championship: Germany book quarterfinals ticket

After a goalless draw against Romania in the first and final group stage game on Tuesday (30/03), Germany U21 have qualified for the quarter-finals of the European Championship.

Malick Thiaw did not play in the game and must therefore wait for his debut with the national team.

In the other game in the group, Netherlands beat Hungary 6-1 in order to seal first place in the group ahead of Germany, who finished in second.

Nmecha misses penalty

In what was an exciting game until the final whistle, Lukas Nmecha had Germany’s best chance of the match, but the RSC Anderlecht forward was unable to convert his penalty in the 72nd minute.

The knockout phase of the two-part European Championships will take place between 31st May and 6th June.
