U21 Euros: New signing Jonjoe Kenny knocked out with England

Jonjoe Kenny and the England U21s suffered a disappointing exit from the U21 Euros on Friday evening (21/6). Schalke’s new signing from Everton was part of the England team that lost 4-2 to Romania.

Kenny was brought into the starting line-up after being left on the bench for the 2-1 defeat against France in England’s opening group game. Amazingly, all six goals came in the final fifteen minutes of the match.

England were able to equalise twice in a short space of time through Demarai Gray (79’) and Tammy Abraham (87’), after George Puscas (76’) and Ianis Hagi (85’) had scored for Romania. Florinel Coman then scored a late brace to finally seal the win.

Kenny played 90 minutes in Italy. England’s final group game is on Monday (24/6, 21:00 CEST) against Croatia.
