Mark Uth made his international debut last night (13/10), but Germany suffered a 3-0 defeat to the Netherlands. Hamza Mendyl enjoyed a late victory with Morocco, whilst Salif Sané did not feature for Senegal.

Uth starts for Germany

It was a debut with a bitter end for Mark Uth. The Schalke striker made his international debut against the Netherlands last night, but Germany lost the game 3-0. Uth played particularly well in the first half and had a few shots. The 27-year-old, Germany’s 100th debutant under Löw, was replaced after 68 minutes at 1-0 down. Schalke’s other player in the squad, Sebastian Rudy, did not feature in the game.

Virgil van Dijk put the hosts ahead with a header in the 30th minute before Memphis Depay (87’) and Georginio Wijnaldum (90+3’) wrapped up the points in the closing stages. Germany had numerous chances to score, but failed to take any of them.

After two games, Germany are bottom of Group 1 in League A with one point. The Netherlands are second, with three points, and France lead the group with four points. Germany face the world champions on Tuesday in the Stade de France (20:45 CEST).

Late victory for Mendyl

Hamza Mendyl had a better time with his country, with Morocco scoring late to secure a 1-0 win against Comoros in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. Faycal Fajr scored the winner with a penalty in the seventh minute of stoppage time. Mendyl came on as a sub at the beginning of the second half.

Morocco now have six points and sit in second place in Group B, just one point behind leaders Cameroon. Comoros are bottom with one point. The two teams meet each other again on Tuesday (14:00 CEST).

Senegal win without Salif Sané

Senegal were also victorious, winning their game against Sudan 3-0. Pape Abou Cissé (17’), Idrissa Gueye (18’) and M’Baye Niang (51’) were the scorers, but Salif Sané didn’t feature in the game.

Senegal currently top their group with seven points from three games, whilst Sudan are bottom and without a point. The pair will meet again on Tuesday in Sudan (19:30 CEST).
