Rouven Schröder: We’re very happy with every single transfer

Following yet another busy transfer window, Rovuen Schröder spoke to the media at the pre-match press conference before Saturday’s away game at VfB Stuttgart (3/9, 15:30 CEST) about his squad, new signing Kenan Karaman and Amine Harit’s loan deal.

Rouven Schröder on…

…signing Kenan Karaman:
We let both Dong-gyeong Lee and Blendi Idrizi go and we need depth in all positions, as well as a strong and versatile squad. Kenan can anywhere up front and will integrate quickly into our group. He will increase the competition for places among our attackers again and he’s already shown during his time at Düsseldorf what he’s capable of.

…Amine Harit’s loan to Olympique Marseille:
We always have the club’s best interests in mind and wouldn’t have agreed to the transfer if the conditions weren’t good for us. We’re happy with this deal with Marseille and we believe that it will lead to them buying him at the end of the season. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the board, with whom I worked closely with on this deal.

Now we have to try and achieve our goal of remaining in the Bundesliga together.

…the squad at the end of transfer window:
We have tried to get the best possible squad with the resources available to us. There was probably more movement at Schalke again this transfer window than at other Bundesliga clubs. We’re very happy with every single transfer. The squad is really versatile and we believe that every single individual can be successful in the Bundesliga. Now we have to try and achieve our goal of remaining in the Bundesliga together.

…the current situation and competition for places up front:
I’m confident that we’ll break our duck soon. It’s important that we keep creating chances for ourselves. It ultimately doesn’t matter who scores the goals, the important thing is that we’re a unit. Everybody gets the chance to impress in training and then has to perform on matchday. The best players will be on the pitch at the weekend.
