S04’s 2022 training camp to take place at tourism partner Hohe Tauern

FC Schalke 04 and the Austrian national park Hohe Tauern GmbH will continue their successful and highly valued cooperation. The new agreement to this tourism partnership, which began in 2016, will now run until 30th June 2023, with the option to extend the deal too. The Royal Blues will once again hold their summer training camps in Austria during this period.

Hohe Tauern

For the sixth time now, Schalke’s first team will travel to Mittersill for a pre-season training camp, this time ahead of the 2022/23 season. The exact timings depend on the division the club is in and will therefore be announced at a later date. A number of Schalke fans have followed their team down to Austria in the past in order to combine their summer holiday with their favourite club – and some fantastic views to boot.

The holiday region, with an area of almost 2,000 square kilometres, is the largest conservation area in central Europe. The Hohe Tauern national park offers an unbelievable experience of nature all year round with its 300 peaks over 3,000 metres, countless glaciers, waterfalls and mountain lakes.

We’re pleased that we’ll be spending pre-season in this picturesque location once again.

Dr. Bernd Schröder

Schalke’s CEO, Dr. Bernd Schröder, was delighted about the continuation of the partnership: “We’re pleased that we’ll be spending pre-season in this picturesque location once again. Within the club, there have only been positive things said about our cooperation with the Hohe Tauern national park and it offers our fans a number of beautiful tourist attractions. I’m personally looking forward to my first training camp in Mittersill and getting to know the people there.”

Michael Obermoser, chairman of the supervisory board for the Hohe Tauern national park, was also excited after the partnership was extended: “The cooperation with FC Schalke 04 has become a really exciting partnership for the Hohe Tauern national park over recent years. We’re looking forward to welcoming a number of visitors, many of which have become regulars and friends. The stunning scenery and Austrian hospitality combine perfectly with the buzz surrounding football.”
