Schalke 04’s release list announced at the end of the season

The challenging 2023/24 season will come to an end on Sunday (19/5) with the trip to play SpVgg Greuther Fürth. After Simon Terodde and Danny Latza bid farewell to the fans after the final home game against Hansa Rostock last weekend, more decisions have been made on the future of the squad.

Three wins and one draw for S04 players on international duty

Five Royal Blues were in action or their country on Friday (22nd March): Darko Churlinov (North Macedonia), Blendi Idrizi (Kosovo), Keke Topp and Yusuf Kabadayi (both Germany U20) and Ibrahima Cissé (Mali U23). These games resulted in three wins and one draw. Here is a summary of the five players’ matches.

Five Royal Blues called up for first international break of 2024

The first international break of 2024 starts this week. Two Schalke players – Darko Churlinov and Blendi Idrizi – have been included in their countries’ senior squads. Ibrahima Cissé has been called up for Mali U23s, who are preparing for the Olympic Games, while Yusuf Kabadayi and Keke Topp are in the Germany U20 squad.

Blendi Idrizi: I want to score and assist more goals

The winter break actually came at an unfortunate time for midfielder Blendi Idrizi. Towards the end of 2023, the Kosovan had regained his place in the side and impressed on the final two matchdays, scoring in Rostock on matchday 16 and then setting up Keke Topp with a lovely assist against Fürth at home.

Blendi Idrizi: It’s fun to be a part of FC Schalke 04

Blendi Idrizi’s eyes lit up as he stood together in front of the Nordkurve with his teammates and celebrated the 3-0 home victory against Heidenheim on Saturday (9/4). “It’s fun to be a part of FC Schalke 04. We have a fantastic team and unbelievable fans,” commented the 23-year-old, who signed an early contract extension until 2024 around two weeks ago.

Kaminski celebrates World Cup qualification, Churlinov and North Macedonia miss out

Two Schalke 04 first-team players are experiencing mixed emotions – whilst Marcin Kaminski and Poland sealed their place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar on Tuesday (29/3), Darko Churlinov was on the losing side with North Macedonia in their play-off final against Portugal. Elsewhere, Blendi Idrizi and Kerim Calhanoglu also featured for their national teams.
