Shortly before the end of the transfer window, Schalke 04 can announce that Amine Harit has been loaned to French side Olympique Marseille. The attacker will initially be sent to Marseille until the end of the 2022/23 season. The loan agreement includes both a purchase option and an obligation to buy, if certain conditions are met.

“This loan deal, which includes the obligation to buy, suits both parties and it suits us economically. The probability that the conditions for the obligation to buy will be met is high in our joint estimations. We wish Amine all the best for his time in Marseille,” said Rouven Schröder.

Amine Harit’s transfer also marks the end of the wide-reaching squad restructuring that has taken place since the club’s relegation to the 2. Bundesliga in 2021. “Over the last one and a half years, we have had an unprecedented upheaval in our squad. It has been a highly intense period in terms of the challenges we have faced and it has now come to a successful conclusion,” said Peter Knäbel.

At the end of the transfer period, Knäbel expressed the view that the endeavours of the club have been implemented sucessfully: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been involved in this gruelling process and has helped to shape the club with their tremendous efforts. A special mention must also go to Rouven Schröder, who has invested an incredible amount of time and energy into making sure that Schalke 04 has the best possible chance of having a successful footballing future. Now we have to look ahead and it now comes down to picking up the points in order to stay in the Bundesliga.”
