“The signing of Andreas Vindheim has fulfilled our goal of increasing the competition for places on both wings,” said sporting director Rouven Schröder. “Andreas’ character will fit right into our squad and that was really important to us. His pace and crossing ability will improve our attacking play, whilst he also has a great understanding of the game, both with and without the ball. We’re really pleased that we’ve pulled off this transfer,” added Schröder.

“I’m really pleased to have joined FC Schalke 04,” commented Vindheim. “I want to play as many games as possible and win them too, of course. I’ll give my all right away in training and try to impress the coach with my skills.”

Vindheim’s career began in 2004 at SK Brann, with the right-back breaking into the first team aged 17. His strong performances at the Norwegian side earned him a move to Malmö in Sweden in January 2015. He was then part of the side that won the Swedish title in both 2016 and 2017.

The wide player joined record Czech champions Sparta Prague in summer 2019. He featured three times for them in the group stage of the Europa League this season. Overall, Vindheim has played 24 times in Europe, plus in one international, having made his Norway debut in the UEFA Nations League on 18th November 2020 against Austria.
