Schalke 04 hand Ayman Gulasi first senior contract

Schalke have secured the long-term services of attacking talent Ayman Gulasi, handing the U19 midfielder his first senior contract. The 18-year-old has signed until 30th June 2028. Gulasi, who holds both Turkish and Australian citizenship, joined from the Bulls FC academy in Australia during the summer.

“Ayman has made a positive start to life in Germany and is making great progress under U19s head coach Norbert Elgert,” said director of squad planning, scouting and Knappenschmiede, Ben Manga. “He offers us a good attitude, quality on the ball and a goal threat, while also remaining aware of the areas in which he needs to improve. That’s what we aim to help Ayman do.”

Joining the Knappenschmiede was the best way for me to take my first steps in Europe.

Following the contract signing, Gulasi explained: “Joining the Knappenschmiede was the best way for me to take my first steps in Europe. I have learned a lot since then and I am proud that those responsible at Schalke have put their faith in me for years to come.”

Born in Sydney, Gulasi played for the Bulls FC Academy in Australia before making the move to join the Knappenschmiede. The Türkiye U20 international has featured 15 times for the Schalke U19s so far this season, in both the DFB youth league and youth DFB-Pokal. He has scored five goals and recorded a further assist.
