Bernard Tekpetey will join Ludogorets on loan
Bernard Tekpetey will spend two years on loan at Bulgarian giants Ludogorets Razgrad. The previous loan deal with Fortuna Düsseldorf was originally set to last until 2021, but has been cancelled prematurely. Tekpetey’s contract with Schalke is valid until 2023.
“Bernard had a tough year in Düsseldorf – unfortunately the season did not go as any of us had hoped. For the sake of his sporting development, which did not seem possible anymore in Düsseldorf, we thought it was necessary to support him and terminate the loan deal early. We hope he can return to his best with Ludogorets,” said sporting director Jochen Schneider.
Tekpetey joined the Schalke U23s in early 2016. Since then the Accra-born forward has also played for Austrian club SCR Altach and for then-second-tier side SC Paderborn 07. This past season, Tekpetey made nine Bundesliga appearances. For the Royal Blues, Tekpetey made two appearances in the Bundesliga and one in the UEFA Europa League.
