“Darko is an attacking all-rounder, and he can make life tough for opposition defenders with his speed and skill in one-on-ones. He is able to pose a threat by making deep runs behind the defence, is a goal-scoring threat and is strong with both feet. His style of play fits well to our squad and we are pleased to have been able to pull off this transfer,” said sporting director Rouven Schröder.

“I’m very happy that this move has happened. My discussions with the club were very good, which made it an easy decision. As a team, we have a lot we want to accomplish and I want to contribute to that,” Churlinov said.

Darko Churlinov moved from North Macedonia to join the Hansa Rostock academy in 2015. Following stops at 1. FC Magdeburg and 1. FC Köln, he arrived at VfB Stuttgart in January 2020. He featured for the Swabians in their first-round DFB-Pokal match against BFC Dynamo this season, scoring a goal. The 21-year-old has made 15 Bundesliga and six Bundesliga 2 appearances so far.
