Donis Avdijaj joins Willem II

Avdijaj has signed a one-year contract with the option of an extension with the team who finished 13th in the Eredivisie last campaign. His contract at Schalke was due to run out at the end of the 2018/19 season. The striker had recently been part of the Royal Blue’s U23 squad and the details of the deal will remain undisclosed.

“We would like to wish Donis all the best for his future in the Netherlands,” said sporting director Christian Heidel. Avdijaj, who left VfL Osnabrück to sign for the Schalke youth academy in 2011, made 9 apperances in the Bundesliga for Schalke, scoring twice. He also appeared in three Europa League matches. Donis was also loaned out to Austrian Bundesliga side Sturm Graz between January 2015 and June 2016.
