Dries Wouters signs on loan for KV Mechelen for the rest of the season
Defender Dries Wouters will spend the remainder of the 2021/22 season at KV Mechelen. Both clubs agreed to keep the details of the loan deal undisclosed.
“Dries is a really professional guy and we still believe in his potential. Together with him, we came to the decision that he definitely needs match practice over the coming months. Due to the strong competition for places here at Schalke, that would have been difficult for him, so a loan move is the best possible solution for both parties,” explained sporting director Rouven Schröder.

The left-footed defender joined the Royal Blues in summer 2021 from Belgian side KRC Genk, signing on a three-year deal. The 24-year-old, who was sidelined for several weeks by two ligament injuries, has made two competitive appearances for Schalke, including one start.
