Emmanuel Gyamfi departs for Aberdeen

Emmanuel Gyamfi is set for a new challenge in the Scottish Premiership, securing a move to top-flight club Aberdeen following a successful loan spell at partner club VVV-Venlo.

The Knappenschmiede graduate signed his first professional contract with Schalke in the year before his loan move to the Netherlands. The Scottish cup champions and FC Schalke 04 have agreed on a fee secure Gyamfi’s transfer from the Royal Blues. Exact details will remain undisclosed.

Before Gyamfi joined the Knappenschmiede in 2019, the left-footed player had spells with VfR Oberhausen, VfB Speldorf, SG Essen-Schönebeck and Fortuna Düsseldorf. After successful stints across Schalke’s U16, U17 and U19 teams, Gyamfi also impressed in the Royal Blue jersey at U23 level. He made 21 appearances in the fourth division, scoring one goal and setting up two further. The defender’s performances attracted the interest of Schalke partner club VVV-Venlo. After featuring 30 times in the Dutch second tier last term, he is now headed for Scotland.

Youri Mulder to remain as S04's director of professional football

FC Schalke 04 and Youri Mulder will continue their cooperation, with the 56-year-old taking up a permanent position as the club's director of professional football until June 2027. Mulder had previously been in the role on an interim basis since November 2024, having also been a co-opted member of the supervisory board.

Three players from the U23s training with the first team

FC Schalke 04 have begun preparations for their final game of the season at home to SV Elversberg on Sunday (18/5). Yassin Ben Balla, Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Tidiane Touré, who all helped the club’s U23 side secure safety in the Regionalliga West last weekend, were all involved on Tuesday. Johannes Siebeking, a goalkeeper from the U19s, is also training with the first team again.
