“We would like to thank Fabian for his enthusiasm during his time here at Schalke, especially during the first half of this season,” says sporting director Jochen Schneider. “Even though it was difficult for him to get game time because of the competition for within the team, he always had an impeccable attitude. We wish him all the best for his time at his home club.”

Fabian Reese joined S04 from Holstein Kiel in the summer of 2013 and made his Bundesliga debut in a home game against Bayern München (1-3) on 21st November 2015 at the age of 17. Overall, he made 13 Bundesliga appearances, two appearances in Europe and one in the DFB-Pokal during his time at the club. The 1.87 metres tall attacker was loaned to second-division Karlsruher SC for the first half of 2017 and was also on loan at SpVgg Greuther Fürth  from January 2018 until summer 2019
