FC Schalke 04 and Sebastian Rudy go separate ways
Schalke 04 have released Sebastian Rudy from his contract with immediate effect. The midfielder spent last season on loan at TSG Hoffenheim 1899 and had a contract originally running until 2022.
“After the eventful Monday, we spoke again at length and are now very happy that we were able to agree on a solution for both parties that significantly eases the club financially. Meanwhile, Sebastian now has the chance of a new start at another club. We wish him all the best for his personal and sporting future,” said sporting director Rouven Schröder.
The 31-year-old, who joined in summer 2018 from Bayern Munich, played one whole season in Gelsenkirchen, spending the other two campaigns at Hoffenheim. The 29-time Germany international made 30 appearances for the Royal Blues.
