FC Schalke 04 confirm staff for the 2024/25 season
Head coach Karel Geraerts’ squad will kick off their preparations for the upcoming campaign on Monday (24/6), starting with a series of performance tests. Schalke 04 are now able to announce their staff ahead of the season, providing a summary of each individual job role.
“Over the summer break, we have successfully been able to arrange the new team of staff at the club. Our goal was to recruit a group of employees who entirely embody the vision of Schalke 04 that we have formulated in collaboration with the club’s sporting management and leadership. We are looking to establish a new culture in order to support, challenge and develop our players day in and day out, in order to help them reach their full potential,” explained Marc Wilmots and Ben Manga.
Mario Grevelhörster, who previously worked as S04’s team manager for three years, will now be responsible for Schalke’s transport management, kit management, and the newly created area of integration management as the administrative head of the first-team setup.

Juan Oburu and Joe Miraglia will join S04 to take care of the player’s personal welfare requirements for the start of the new season. Additionally, Enrico Heil and Holger Blumenstein will continue to provide their services as kitmen, with Lars Laser still working in transport management.
Lorenz Kutscha-Lissberg, who is another new addition to the team, will be responsible for overseeing Schalke’s match analysis, and has joined the club after most recently working as Head of Scouting and Analysis at FK Austria Vienna.
Dr. Patrick Ingelfinger remains as Schalke’s Chief Doctor, working alongside Dr. Antonius Antoniadis. Nico Wamig and Marc Thum are still responsible for team’s rehab and injury prevention department.
A number of staff members will no longer be involved with the club ahead of the upcoming campaign, including Jörn Menger, former Head of Performance, who joined S04 from VfL Bochum back in 2021. Thomas Kühn, who previously worked as Head of Physiotherapy and has been at the club since 2014, as well as physiotherapists Tim Hielscher (also at Schalke since 2014) and Tim Roussis, who has worked with the first team and Knappenschmiede for 12 years in total, have also left. Former video analyst Lars Gerling, who came to Schalke in 2016, will also not be involved with the club in the upcoming campaign. Finally, it was confirmed earlier this year that Gerald Asamoah would no longer occupy the position of first-team manager, a position which will not be filled in the future.
“On behalf of the management team, I would like to extend my thanks once again to everyone involved at the club, particularly for their efforts during the difficult periods,” expressed Schalke 04’s sporting director Marc Wilmots.
