Christian Gomis joins Schalke 04
FC Schalke 04 have announced the signing of Christian Gomis. The striker, who has both Senegalese and Spanish citizenship, has put pen to paper on a contract until 30th June 2029 and will wear the number 7 shirt for the Royal Blues.
The 25-year-old joins from FC Winterthur, having struck four goals in six competitive games for the Swiss Super League side so far this season. Both clubs have agreed to keep the details of the transfer undisclosed.
Christian Gomis' hard running and intense style of play fit the qualities that we want in a striker.
“Christian Gomis’ hard running and intense style of play fit the qualities that we want in a striker. He has improved with every year and still has room to develop. We’re looking forward to working with him,” said Youri Mulder, S04’s director of professional football.
“I’ve had very good discussions with the club’s management over the last weeks. Miron Muslic made clear what he expects from me and how I’ll be able to showcase my strengths. I’m looking forward to playing for Schalke and in front of their fans,” said Gomis.
Christian Gomis moved from Spain to Switzerland at a young age, going on to play for Chaux-de-Fonds, BEJUNE, FC Biel-Bienne and Vevey United. He won promotion to the second division with Stade Nyonnais in summer 2023. Last summer, he joined Super League outfit FC Winterthur, where he soon became a regular starter. Gomis scored nine goals in 34 appearances for the side.
