Guido Burgstaller retires from international football
After seven-and-a-half years with the Austria national team, Guido Burgstaller has decided to call time on his international career with immediate effect. From now on, the 30-year-old wants to focus solely on his club career with FC Schalke 04.

“This was not an easy decision for me to make. I have been thinking long and hard about this and I think that is the right decision for my health and my family”, Burgstaller said, explaining the reasons for his retirement. “Now I want to put all my energy into Schalke and focus on my family. I wish the national team and all the players good luck for the future.”
