Haji Wright joins VVV Venlo

Schalke U23 attacker Haji Wright has left the club to join Dutch top-flight side VVV Venlo. The American forward had one year remaining on his original S04 contract.

“For Haji it is an understandable step to take in order to pick up more game time and develop his skills in first-team football,” explained sporting director Jochen Schneider. “In terms of the transfer, we have come to an agreement that both parties are happy with and wish Haji all the best for his time in the Netherlands.”

The 21 year old joined the Schalke youth set-up in spring 2016 from New York Cosmos and spent the 2017/18 season on loan at second-division side SV Sandhausen, scoring one goal in 15 games. Wright made seven Bundesliga appearances for the Royal Blues and scored one goal.
