Justin Heekeren moves to RSC Anderlecht
Goalkeeper Justin Heekeren has moved to Belgium to sign for top-flight side RSC Anderlecht. The 25-year-old’s contract was due to expire this summer. The two clubs have agreed that the details of the transfer will remain undisclosed.
“When Justin came to us with his wish to move to Anderlecht, we didn’t want to stand in his way. We’d like to thank him for his time here at Schalke. He’s had a special connection with this club since childhood and he showed that every day in his work here,” said Youri Mulder, director of professional football. “We wish him all the very best for the future, both on and off the pitch.”

After joining S04 from Rot-Weiß Oberhausen in the summer of 2022, Heekeren made 31 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga and featured twice in the DFB-Pokal, including the first-round win away at Lokomotive Leipzig this season. During the second half of the 2023/2024 campaign, the goalkeeper already got some experience in Belgium on loan at second-tier side Patro Eisden Maasmechelen.
