Matriciani is also pleased to continue his career at Schalke, saying “I’m very happy and grateful that I have been able to sign a professional contract today. I want to thank the club for the trust they have shown in me.”

Matriciani joined the Schalke U23s from SV Lippstadt 08 in July 2020. The defender made 34 appearances in the Regionalliga West for Torsten Fröhling’s side. Schalke were Matriciani’s first club outside of East Westphalia, having also spent time in Arminia Bielefeld’s academy.

The defender made his professional debut for Schalke in 2020/21, coming off the bench with 23 minutes left to play against Eintracht Frankfurt. This season, Matriciani has made two appearances for the Royal Blues.
