Huntelaar a doubt for Köln

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar suffered a blow to his leg in the 4-3 win over Eintracht Frankfurt last Saturday (15/5). It’s not yet clear whether or not he will be able to face 1. FC Köln in the final game of the season this weekend.

Goalkeeper Frederik Rönnow, who got injured after a collision in training, hasn’t trained with the team since. As things stand, the Royal Blues will be without seven players in Cologne. Aside from William, who tore his ACL recently, Benjamin Stambouli (operation on his upper jaw), Omar Mascarell (muscle strain), Matija Nastasic (calf injury), Nabil Bentaleb (groin operation), Hamza Mendyl (syndesmosis injury) and Nassim Boujellab (ankle ligament and MCL injuries) are all in rehabilitation training and didn’t travel with the squad for the quarantine training camp. These players will therefore not feature again for FC Schalke 04 this season.

A further three players who tested positive for Covid-19 last week will also not play. Those players in question are all still self-isolating at home, while the same applies to three more players that were in contact group 1.
