Johannes Geis leaves for 1. FC Köln

Midfielder Johannes Geis has left Schalke 04 to sign for second-division side 1. FC Köln. The clubs have agreed to keep the terms of the deal private. The 25-year-old’s contract would have expired at the end of the season.

Geis signed for S04 in 2015 from 1. FSV Mainz 05. In the next two seasons, he made 46 Bundesliga appearances, 13 in the Europa League and 2 in the DFB-Pokal, scoring 5 goals. The midfielder was then loaned out to Spanish side FC Sevilla last season. Since returning to Gelsenkirchen in 2018 he hasn’t made a further appearance for the Royal Blues.
